One of the best parts of KubeCon is the people you finally get to meet in person.

The Conversations That Matter Most
Really enjoyed connecting with the team behind De Nederlandse Kubernetes Podcast and catching up with Nate Waddington from the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF).
What I always appreciate at events like this is that the most valuable conversations are often the most informal ones. A quick chat can turn into a real exchange on community building, open source, platform engineering, and how the Kubernetes ecosystem continues to evolve across local and global communities.
The Dutch Kubernetes Scene
It was especially great to see how active and engaged the Dutch Kubernetes scene is. Strong local communities like De Nederlandse Kubernetes Podcast play an important role in making cloud native knowledge more accessible, practical, and connected to what practitioners actually need.
Local community efforts matter because:
- Language accessibility β not everyone consumes technical content in English as their primary language
- Regional context β European regulatory requirements like GDPR and the Cyber Resilience Act shape how organizations adopt cloud native differently
- Practitioner networks β local meetups create trust networks that translate into real collaboration on open source projects
- Talent development β making Kubernetes knowledge accessible in local languages helps grow the next generation of cloud native engineers
Building the Ecosystem Through Relationships
As always, great to meet people from the broader CNCF ecosystem who help create the space where these communities can grow. The CNCF staff at KubeCon are the connective tissue β they create the environment where maintainers, end users, and community builders can find each other.
Good conversations, good energy, and a nice reminder that the ecosystem is built as much through relationships as through technology.
This connects to what I have been seeing across all the KubeCon EU 2026 side events β the conference floor is only part of the story. The real magic happens in the hallway track, at meetups, and over coffee.
